• Sierra maintenance updates Our vendor is applying fairly frequent "maintenance updates" to our system, the most recent one being overnigh Wednesday to Thursday (April 19-20). If you notice a message about an update at the bottom of your Sierra session when you open it, please try to open Sierra on one computer at a time at your library. These udpates should not take long to complete. -Lori 04/20/2017 - 12:16pm
  • Serials and "Verifier Error" There is a problem with editing and deleting some serials (magazine) records in Sierra: users get a "Verifier Error - Field group does not have pattern field(s)" message. This problem is expected to be fixed next week. I'll post an updade when the fix is in place. -Lori 04/19/2017 - 3:01pm

Recommended IFLS Policies for ILL--Library as Borrower

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is defined as items borrowed from another library and circulated locally. The following policies may not apply to items borrowed through your shared system.

Too New for ILL?
IFLS will not refer requests for materials published/released in the last four months outside of the Indianhead system.

Requests for renewals of ILL materials are discouraged, but completely at the discretion of the lender. Many libraries will renew if you request via WISCAT or call directly. IFLS can renew materials from MORE libraries.

Overdue Fines
Charge the same fines that you would charge for in-house materials. Suggested standard is $1.00 per day for DVDs; $.10 per day for other materials; $5.00 maximum per item.

Lost Materials
The Borrowing Library is always responsible for the cost of borrowed ILL materials. Actual cost for lost materials is billed by the lending library. Contact the lending library.

If keeping paper files, consider filing pending interlibrary loan requests by title. If materials are received with no paperwork, the requests will be easier to find.

Recommended IFLS Policies for ILL -- Library as Lender

For the following lending policies, Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is defined as items lent to another library outside of your shared system.

Loan Periods

  • 28 Days - Videos/DVDs (exception TV series)
  • 35 Days - All other circulating materials
