The Cornell Public Library in Cornell, WI seeks a well-organized and energetic leader to direct the operations of their library. The library is part of the IFLS Library System.

The library serves a city of about 1,400 residents in western Wisconsin. Cornell is a four-season recreational hub located on the Chippewa River and near the Brunet Island State Park. Regional outdoor amenities include bike/walking trails, cross-country ski trails as well as ATV and snowmobile trails. Cornell has the charm of a small town with proximity to the City of Eau Claire and the Chippewa Valley.

Responsibilities: The Library Director reports to a seven-member Board of Trustees and is responsible for the overall management of the library. Essential duties include building and maintaining our collection, managing the library budget, supervising the library staff, planning programs, developing community outreach and partnerships, and promoting the library within the City of Cornell and the surrounding area.

Qualifications: Candidates must be eligible for Wisconsin Grade III certification. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Three or more years of library experience is preferred; library administration experience is desirable. The ideal candidate shall also possess excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with library staff, the Library Board, the City of Cornell, and community members and organizations. Knowledge of current library practices, technology and trends is desired.
