The Wisconsin Historical Society Press announces the release of its Storytime Live book talk collection, available for Social Media sharing via our YouTube Channel at whspressbooks. The 15-25 minutes book talks are geared toward young readers but enjoyed by audiences of all ages and feature authors of our books from young readers sharing stories, reading excerpts, and suggesting related activities.

Accessibility on Social Media
Hashtags: If you use them, capitalize the first letter of each word. For instance, instead of #librariestransform use #LibrariesTransform. Screen readers will stumble over the first but be able to recognize the words on the second. And like most accessibility tips, it makes it easier for the rest of us to read the hashtag, too.
Alt Text on Facebook Photos: Facebook’s latest flurry of updates made it harder to use alt text. Now Facebook automatically adds alt text to all photos, which is usually cryptic. AND you can only change the alt text once the post has been published. Yes, Reb has opinions, but here’s a 3-minute walkthrough on how to do that, which makes Facebook better for screenreaders and search engines.
