1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a program sponsored by many libraries in Wisconsin and beyond. It highlights the importance and the delight in reading with young children by encouraging families to read 1000 books together before a child enters Kindergarten. This might seem like a daunting goal, but reading three books a day for a year or one book a day for three years both result in more than 1000 books read. The benefits of reading with young children to their social-emotional and language development are clear. Libraries can provide a fun way for families to keep track of this by launching a 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program. Here are some resources to help.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten Beanstack Templates are a great online option for participants. Templates are easy to customize to your program, and there are several experts in the IFLS area who can help you get started.
