At IFLS we are Inspiring and Facilitating Library Success
We envision a network of amazing libraries. IFLS staff and our partner libraries collaborate to provide outstanding, engaged and inclusive services that contribute to informed, connected and literate communities. Our mission is to inspire and facilitate library success by providing member libraries with the tools to serve, empower and lead their communities.
The IFLS Library System is a state-funded support agency for 53 vibrant public libraries in a 10-county area of west-central Wisconsin, founded in 1978. IFLS staff and our partner libraries collaborate to provide outstanding, engaged and inclusive services that contribute to informed, connected and literate communities.
While a lot of our work occurs behind the scenes, our support services are used every day.
MORE is our most recognizable public service. MORE is a collaboration between IFLS and all of the 54 public libraries in our system area. MORE libraries share resources, so MORE card-holders have access to over 1.4 million items.
As part of IFLS, member libraries are able to offer a world of resources to their communities, including:
- Downloadable media like e-books and e-audiobooks
- Online learning and research resources
- Books and other items from outside of our system to borrow
Behind the scenes, IFLS provides our member libraries with the tools to serve, empower and lead their communities–and just keep on top of the day-to-day challenges of running a library.
- Technology support: every time your MORE online service and your library’s public computers work, there’s an IFLS tech wizard busy keeping it that way.
- You know when you search for a book and then find it? That’s cataloging, and we maintain high standards so that you can find and enjoy the resources we own.
- Libraries = strong communities: IFLS develops and facilitates collaboration with other agencies to enhance our libraries and their communities.
- Getting from where you are to where you want to be can be a challenge. From the smallest budget detail to plans for a new library building, we inspire and facilitate each library’s success.
- We’ve got hundreds of years of combined staff experience, and we share that every week through individual consulting, group educational opportunities for staff, online information, advocacy and more.
Our Strategic Plan
2022-2027
Want all the details of our vision moving forward? This is where to look.
our board of trustees
The IFLS trustees are appointed by the 10 participating county boards. Trustees can be county board supervisors or citizens designees; either type can serve unlimited three-year terms. Each county is represented by 1-3 trustees, based on county population. Trustees meet six times each year on the fourth Wednesday of the month. All meetings are open to the public and most are held in the IFLS conference room. Click here for more information.
