Keeping Up With Kids

Jo Hick from Phillips sent a note a while back encouraging folks to check out NetGalley, a source for electronic book advanced reader copies.  It used to be that only librarians who were able to attend major conferences were able to pick up Advanced Reader Copies in the exhibit hall, but Net Galley makes it possible for those of us with smaller budgets to get in on the fun, too!

Here’s what Jo said:

“… it is really awesome.  You go to NetGalley and create an account (be sure to specify that you are a librarian which will guarantee membership).  I have a Kindle so I went on my Amazon account and had to include the NetGalley email address to my “acceptable” list.  Then I went on NetGalley and looked through which titles I would like to read and requested them.  I guess then the publisher decides whether or not to accept the request – all of my requests were ok’d right away.  So then I just pushed a button and they were sent to my Kindle!  This is a great idea instead of using all that paper.

There are quite a few selections – you will have to check it out – lots of different genres.  I’m just getting YA and Children’s stuff”

If you have an e-reader, this is a terrific way to keep track of what is new and exciting!  Thanks, Jo!
