Keeping Up With Kids
A sign with an arrow pointing right that says, "Over here" and an arrow pointing left that says "No, this way"

I’ve been finding for myself (and hearing from others both in and out of libraries) that one of the most stressful things about COVID-19 is the endless need to make decisions.  And then often needing to second-guess those decisions, or make new decisions based on new evidence or circumstances.  It takes a lot of mental and emotional energy!

Yia Lor, the Human Development and Relationships Educator at UW-Madison Extension, Eau Claire County shared a decision-making tool with me.  It is available as a flow chart, as an interactive web tool, as just a list of questions to consider, and more.  Like nearly everything I have ever seen from UW-Madison Extension, it is thoughtful and well-done.  It won’t save time, but it will help with making intentional decisions about personal activities, and I could imagine it also being useful for making decisions about the library.  I recommend it if you are finding that you or someone in your personal life is struggling with decision-making, and it also would be a great tool to share with people the library is serving.  Parents who are trying to figure out what to do with their kids in the fall might find it useful!
