ILL

When mailing an out of state ILL item, consider including a return address label so the item comes back directly to your library instead of making a pit stop at IFLS!

Chapter 43 Quiz

Q: Can your municipality (administrator, mayor, etc.) have access to library security cameras? What about the ones on the outside of the building? What if that building is a shared building?

A: No, your municipality cannot have access to cameras, even ones outside the building. For a shared space, they cannot have access to any cameras that view a library entrance.

Library security video is considered a library record and identifies individuals as library users. Therefore, it may not be disclosed to anyone other than library staff acting within their duties. Exceptions to this rule only include release by court order or to law enforcement if a crime was knowingly committed at the library, and/or if the library requests their assistance.

A couple Annual Report visualizations from IFLS libraries

I got permission to share the Annual Report visualizations from New Richmond and Prescott. Woot! Nicely done. The Prescott snapshot uses an IFLS-created template (find those on the Marketing Page). New Richmond has an in-house expert, and Britta set this up so it’s two to a page.

New on the IFLS website

  • Katelyn added a section on social media policies to the Policy Examples article in the Article Index.
  • One less click! We’re in the process of updating some of the links for printables in the Article Index. Instead of taking you to an article with a link, the pdf opens in a new window. The updated links have a little PDF icon next to them. You can try it out under “Printables and Forms” in the Article Index.
  • Another change in the Article Index: headers are in alphabetical order instead of ranked by popularity.

Coming events and opportunities

Make a point of attending Website events!

These are an excellent way to spend an hour or two a month to really improve your website management. Led by Erica Brewster (Libraries Win), there are multiple live sessions at different levels. The Llibraries Win website is a treasure trove of useful information. Upcoming Website Office Hour events are on the Libraries Win website and will be added to the IFLS calendar each month.
