Bins Needed at Waltco!

The Waltco terminal is running low on empty bins. Libraries with an abundance of empties are encouraged to send them to Waltco for redistribution. IFLS is ordering more bins to add into circulation. Any questions to Katelyn (noack@ifls.lib.wi.us)

Tip Jar: Interlibrary Loan

Remember that not all item-level holds are ILLs! If an item-level hold is for a MORE library, follow the same process as a title-level hold – check in to trigger the hold and route to the borrowing library with the appropriate flag (not a pink slip!)

New! ILL Lending Training Tutorial

Do you have new staff that needs training on lending your library’s items outside of IFLS? Need a refresher for yourself or existing staff? This 9-minute Interlibrary Loan Lending training module includes a video and short quiz. You’ll learn:

  • How the IFLS Interlibrary Loan (ILL) lending workflow functions (overview)
  • How to correctly review and process ILL paging slips to ensure your library’s items are properly prepared before sending them out

The ILL Lending Training module is available to all library staff via Niche Academy. To access and enroll in the full module (or any IFLS Niche Academy item):

  • Simply log into your Niche Academy account; OR
  • If you don’t have an account yet, sign up for a free account. You’ll be prompted to log in/create an account before obtaining full access to this module. Use your library email to create your account.

For future reference, the link is also on the ILL Lending page on the IFLS Website. Questions? Contact Cecelia Cole, IFLS Resource Sharing and Collection Consultant.

Libraries in the news!

Four IFLS-member libraries were awarded Libraries Transforming Communities (LTC): Accessible Small and Rural Communities grants, to increase the accessibility of facilities, services and programs to better serve people with disabilities.

Congratulations to Rusk County Community Library (Christinna Swearingen, director), Milltown Public Library (Bonnie Carl, director), Ellsworth Public Library (Tiffany Meyer, director), and Colfax Public Library (Lisa Bragg-Hurlburt, director).
